I guess I'd better start sewing.

dye batch # 3
And the next round of hand-dyed fabrics. Since I still can't handle the ziplocs very well, I bought plastic containers to throw in my fabrics. And now I'm kind of wondering why I ever bothered with those plastic baggies.

out of the dye pot
They all came out of the same bucket. Thank you to Terri Stegmiller for her fabulous tutorial. I'm so very happy that I can dye fabric again. Up until now I felt that my left arm and hand were too (stroke-)weak to do a good dye job. And I still feel too clumsy to do it my usual way, which involves ziploc baggies. But I felt brave enough to face my dye powders with one of Terri's methods.

acrylic on fabric
I suddenly developed a need for what I would call grunge fabric. Think dirt and stains etc. My left side isn't secure and strong enough to dye with my Procion dyes yet, and the colors I get with them aren't what I'm looking for anyway, too bright for my needs right now. Since I didn't have much luck with tea and coffee, I suddenly thought this morning: "What if," (thank you, Jude), "I just try it with my acrylic paints?" So I watered down a couple of fluid Golden's and just started spreading them on some white cloth. It still needs to dry, but I can already tell that I like the results.
