bummer

I got a sudden urge to knit and crochet (I often get that urge at this time of the year). I was already busy filling up my cart with yarn at an online store when it occurred to me that I haven't done any knitting or crocheting since the stroke. So I grabbed needles, crochet hook and leftover yarn, and 20 minutes later I was in tears, put everything away and emptied my cart. The fine motor skills in my left hand and wrist just aren't there (yet....I hope). Weird that I just "forgot" about it though, as I tend to be hyper aware of all my handicaps and shortcomings. No dish- and washcloths anytime soon I guess.

  1. I don't know much about strokesm but would it help your skills to practice 5 minutes a day, or would that just add to your frustration?

I've also seen aids that help you either grip the crochet hook or straps it into your hand. (I don't know which one you use, you said the left was your bad one)

  2. That's what I decided to do, practice a few minutes each day. It worked with sewing and painting, but I guess that was easier to relearn, as I don't have to depend on my left hand as much as when I try to knit and crochet.
